This training equips staff to incorporate an Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) sensitive approach in their work, specifically focusing on the unique needs and assets of older people. Training participants will learn about intersectional approaches to aging and explore the Life Course approach to understanding the impact of other factors on the aging process. The training session explores the challenges that prevent older people from accessing needed services through a holistic look at environmental, institutional and social barriers. Finally, participants explore international guidance on working with older people, drawing on examples of successful integration and inclusion throughout the international community. This session may be provided in conjunction with Working with Persons with Disabilities and can help reinforce the rights-based, capacity-focused message of that training.
