This course is for all IOM personnel who work with interpreters. By the end of the course, the learner should be able to:
• Explain the basics of interpretation, and how we use interpretation in our work;
• Describe professional expectations for interpreters and understand how human rights principles play a role in interpretation;
• Identify barriers to successful interpretation; and
• Share best practices for ensuring high-quality interpretation.
This course includes an optional Participant Workbook with additional exercises and the IOM Tip-Sheet on ‘Working with Interpreters’. You can download these materials after completing the final quiz.
